Improving SEO

SEO (search engine optimization) is a strategy to increase traffic to your website without paying for ads. This is done by improving where your site appears on search engine rankings (like Google or Bing). It can be quite involved and companies like Google are constantly updating their search algorithms, but there are some basic things you can do to improve your results.

Basic strategy:

  • Add site description - This short description appears under your site title on search results and will tell the search engine what your site is about.

  • Set up Google Tools

    • Google Analytics - This allows you to analyze data for your website and Google listing for your business.

    • Google My Business - This allows you to edit your business listing on Google.

  • Connect to social media - This will encourage customers to share your content and builds credibility in the eyes of search engines by linking to a large established site.

  • Ensure you have SSL enabled - This shows search engines that your site is secure and credible.

  • Include “keywords” in your titles and page content - Keywords are simply words or phrases that your target customer will use when searching online. Don’t spam your website with too many keywords, but try to naturally incorporate them into your content.

If you can incorporate these into your site you will be ahead of many of your competitors.
