Lesson 6: Put Your Website To Work
Your website can be a key way to find new customers and engage existing customers, but only if you keep it up-to-date with fresh content. Put yourself in your ideal customer’s shoes. What kind of information would you want to see on your website? This will be different for every company and product.
Do you sell a product that people want to see, feel, or touch before they buy? Then a video of the product in action may draw more customers to you. For existing customers, do you sell a product that could be upgraded? Or that needs spare parts or repairs? Or that customers can customize? Then you may be able to offer up-selling or cross-selling for related products.
Be creative and ask your front-line employees what they are hearing from customers. Any sentence that begins with, “I wish you....” from a customer could be a customer engagement opportunity.
Tips:
Make sure your brand identity is consistent across the whole site
Offer relevant, informative, information/content for your target audience
Offer incentives (Free downloads, free consultations, exclusive offers, etc.)
Consider a Chat Bot if you get the same questions from customers over and over
